Head of Engineering (m/f/d)

We are hiring a Head of Engineering for our client, an international e-commerce group with more than 45 million monthly active users headquartered in Hamburg, Germany.

In this role, you will lead the Commerce Finance Tech Circle Cluster, which is responsible for integrating the Commerce ERP system to ensure regulatory compliance. Additionally, your team will develop and maintain an ETL platform used by various stakeholders, including generating financial reports.

• Oversee and enable the key strategic initiatives across our system landscape in close collaboration with the application teams
• Build performant & highly scalable technical solutions in close cooperation with our core teams
• Draft architectural decisions and ensure reliable and state-of-the-art products
• Build and manage high-performing engineering teams within the Supply Tech Unit, which includes hiring, coaching and mentoring
• Managing a Unit of 3 different tech teams and collaborating closely with different business stakeholders
• Reporting directly to our VP level and preparing MD decisions
• Challenge business requirements to ensure a good balance between technical complexity while maintaining business value
• Provide leadership to the engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

• Experienced in accompanying the development of high-scalable software products in an agile environment
• Having a deep understanding of Software Architecture and Infrastructure setups in common cloud providers (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud)
• Designing scalable systems and data modelling
• Deep understanding of business and tech processes
• Comfortable working with senior stakeholders (Directors, VPs or C-Suite), both technical and non-technical
• Having an analytical, data-driven, and efficiency-focused approach
• Working hands-on with high attention to detail and having a get-things-done mentality
• Very good written and spoken English skills
