Senior Backend PHP Developer (m/f/d)

We are hiring a (Senior) Backend PHP Developer for our client, an international e-commerce group with more than 45 million monthly active users headquartered in Hamburg, Germany.

Join our client’s MPayment team within the Checkout unit. The MPayment team is responsible for integrating various Payment Service Providers (PSPs) into the client’s ecosystem, ensuring a seamless, error-free, and efficient customer experience. The Checkout unit oversees the entire order placement and processing journey.

Our client offers an in-house developed eCommerce infrastructure as a licensed product to online merchants. It focuses on providing an exceptional Checkout-as-a-Service experience to over 200 online stores in European markets and is expanding in the UK and North America.

• Translate business problems into technical solutions, ensuring proper design, planning, and delivery.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop a scalable software architecture for our client’s API written in PHP.
• Embrace modern agile methodologies and extreme programming practices like TDD and pair programming.
• Use the right tools for the right tasks without being dogmatic about it
• Innovate with plenty of room for ideas within a flat hierarchy and short decision paths.
• Act as a multiplier of team efforts, ensuring technically sound and expected results from teamwork.

• Hands-on experience with Laravel or Symfony.
• Experience in developing synchronous APIs (asynchronous experience is a plus).
• Familiarity with AWS, Terraform, MySQL, Redis, or equivalent technologies.
• Ownership of your work from end-to-end, including automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
• Self-motivated, responsible, passionate, and eager to learn.
• Ability to perform complex technical tasks independently with minimal guidance.
