About the job

We are hiring an experienced and passionate Lead Platform Engineer for our client, an international e-commerce group with more than 45 million monthly active users headquartered in Hamburg, Germany.

Join our client’s team within the Commerce Business Unit and work on exciting topics such as scaling the cloud-based infrastructure for the growing customer base in the online shop.

As part of this role, you will form a central team that supports the development teams in effectively managing their infrastructure. This includes assisting with implementing new services and acting as consultants for engineers, helping them choose the most efficient technology for their projects. Additionally, you will ensure that our teams have sensible defaults and access to valuable resources to build upon.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a world-class team of engineers to ensure our infrastructure’s availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Promote practices like continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code.
  • Automate and standardize processes to ensure the scalability of our flexible API solutions.
  • Take responsibility for the availability and smooth operations of our infrastructure.
  • Monitor our infrastructure in integration, staging, and live environments.
  • Manage resources and services in a cost-efficient manner.

Skills

AWS Azure Datadog Go Google Cloud Linux New Relic Sentry

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in DevOps or related roles.
  • Good knowledge of maintaining Unix server infrastructures.
  • Experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Proficiency in Linux OS and the ability to code in Python.
  • Experience using monitoring tools like Sentry, NewRelic, Kibana, or Datadog.
  • Understanding and interest in the security aspects of running a cloud infrastructure.
  • Eagerness to automate tasks as much as possible.
  • You feel comfortable with people management topics
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Nice to have:

  • Coding knowledge in Golang, Python, or PHP.
  • Experience using a broad range of AWS technologies such as EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, ElastiCache or CloudWatch.
